How much does lawn care cost in Halifax? The 2027 price guide

Lawn care in Halifax with Yardly costs $55 to $95 a visit for weekly mowing with edging on most lawns, $199 to $379 for a spring cleanup, $229 to $429 for a two-visit fall cleanup, and monthly plans from $99 a month for mowing only to $329 with cleanups, fertilizer and snow included. Core aeration is $89 to $159, hedge trimming from $89, and a winter snow contract $649 to $949 a season by driveway width. Prices are by grass area, before 14% HST, with no travel fee in HRM.

Includes the cut, trimming, edging along walkways and the driveway, hard surfaces blown off, clippings mulched or bagged. A normal season is about 22 weekly visits from early May to late October, so a medium lawn costs about $1,540 for the season on per-visit pricing. What a mowing visit includes.

What changes the price
- Grass area. The only thing that sets the base price. Not the lot, not the house, not the postal code.
- Every two weeks instead of weekly: $15 more a visit, because the grass is twice as long.
- Bagging the clippings on a weekly visit: no charge. On a two-week or overgrown lawn the bags can fill a truck, and we quote it.
- Access. A back yard reached only through the house, or a gate narrower than 24 inches, means a smaller mower and more time; we tell you on the first visit.
- Slope and obstacles. Steep front lawns and yards with a dozen trees take longer to trim. Within a size band we absorb it; a lawn at the top of a band with both can be priced one band up, and you hear before we start.
- Heavy leaf cover on a wooded lot can push a cleanup one size up.
How to measure your lawn in two minutes
- Open Google Maps on a computer, find your house and switch to satellite view.
- Right-click a corner of the front lawn and choose "Measure distance". Click around the grass; the area shows at the bottom in square feet or square metres.
- Do the back and any side strips the same way and add them up. Skip the house, driveway, deck and beds.
- 1 square metre is about 10.8 square feet. 3,000 square feet is roughly 280 square metres, about a 50 by 60 foot rectangle.

How to compare quotes
Ask every company the same four things: is edging included every visit or monthly, are clippings and leaves hauled or left at the curb, what happens on a rain day, and is the price per visit or per month with a minimum. A $60 cut that skips the edges and leaves the walkway green is not cheaper than a $70 one that does not.
Questions about prices
Is there a travel fee?
No, anywhere in Halifax Regional Municipality. Outside HRM, text the address and we quote a small one up front.
Do prices include HST?
No. Every price on this site is before 14% HST, and the invoice shows it as a separate line. The table above has worked examples.
Why is my lawn more than the calculator said?
It should not be. We check the grass area on the property map before the first visit and tell you then if the size is different. The only thing that changes a price on the day is something we could not see on the map, like a lawn that has not been cut all season, and we tell you before we start.
Do you give a discount for neighbours?
Yes. Two or more lawns on the same street on the same day each get the next size down on mowing. Text us the addresses.
Can I pay monthly for mowing only?
Yes, that is the Lawn plan: the season's 22 cuts in 12 equal payments, the same total as paying per visit. Lawn + Seasons and Everything add the cleanups, fertilizer and snow on the same basis.
